AKC Registered since 1924 and first shown in England in 1860, the Curly Coated Retriever is definitely NOT a new breed, though they are rare. 

Curly Coated Retrievers:

• are the TALLEST of the retriever breeds

• have a single layer coat and they DO shed

• will happily HUNT upland game, or waterfowl all day

• will happilly RELAX with you for hours on end 

• generally LOVE water (and anyone with treats)

• DO NOT require regular grooming, just the occasional swim and trim

• have SMOOTH faces (no shaving required)

• are the "ORIGINAL Retriever" (the oldest registered Retriever breed)

• are NOT a variety of the Labador Retriever
